First of all, please rest assured that regardless of any geolocation issues, your connection to VyprVPN is still fully secure.
In other words: even if some sites don't correctly recognize your VPN location at all times, your connection to VyprVPN is still valid and it still protects your data and online activity from being snooped on or intercepted by 3rd parties. Geolocation is one of many aspects of a VPN, and incorrect geolocation does not affect your security or privacy when using VyprVPN.
However, we know that incorrect geolocation can cause issues, particularly when you need a certain site or service to recognize that you are in a specific area based on the location of your chosen VPN server location.
When using a VPN, websites will usually reflect the location of your VPN connection, and behave as if you are physically located at or near where the VPN connection is based out of. For example, if you are connected to our United Kingdom VPN server, most websites should behave as if you are located within the UK. Websites and apps use geolocation databases for this.
If you are trying to access a site or service that is not available in your geographic region, but is generally available globally, we recommend trying our servers located in Europe and Asia.
Some sites may at times have difficulty determining the correct location of your VPN connection and will show an incorrect location. This is because the site or service in question is using incorrect or outdated geolocation data.
While this is mostly out of our control, there are a few suggestions that we can offer that may help alleviate this issue. Those suggestions can be found on the following Help Center article: Trouble Accessing Geographically Restricted Content
If the site/service still states you are not in the service area after performing the above steps, you will need to contact the content provider for further assistance.
If you need any further assistance, please contact our 24/7 Customer Success Team, who would be glad to assist.
