This page is here to inform our users of any known issues or important updates with the VyprVPN service. The latest service status updates and announcements are listed first.
VyprVPN Discontinues Active Support for L2TP
In order to focus on the future of VPN, VyprVPN has discontinued active support for the L2TP protocol. This change will free up our engineering teams to focus on the future of VPN, rather than being bogged down supporting much older protocols such as L2TP and PPTP, which are no longer considered secure, and can't provide as fast and reliable a connection as Wireguard and OpenVPN.

macOS 14 Connect on Untrusted Wi-Fi bug
First and foremost: Connect on Untrusted Wi-Fi still works on macOS 14.
We have identified a bug which prevents the user from being able to add trusted networks. They can be added manually, but the app may still connect automatically when you enter the network, even though it is specified as a trusted network.
We have successfully replicated this bug on our end and plan to have it resolved in an upcoming update to VyprVPN for macOS. Thank you for your patience!

VyprVPN Discontinues Active Support for PPTP
June 2, 2023
Sadly, the VPN world has moved on from PPTP, and the once-popular VPN protocol is no longer considered secure. For that reason we have chosen to discontinue active support for the PPTP protocol on our server backend. This decision will free up our technology teams to focus on the future of VPN, rather than being stuck in the past.
This doesn't mean you can't use PPTP protocol anymore - but it does unfortunately mean that we will be severely limited in being able to assist with PPTP connection issues, and we will in many cases recommend using more modern VPN protocols, such as Wireguard or OpenVPN.

Antivirus False Positives
April 11, 2022
Many antivirus systems, including Windows Defender, Norton, Avira, and others, are falsely flagging VyprVPN and other VPN services as potential threats.
Please rest assured that the VyprVPN application contains no malicious code, and will not harm your devices in any way. You can safely set your security software to ignore VyprVPN, and continue using the service regularly.
We have submitted reports to many antivirus organizations to correct this as soon as possible.
