If VyprVPN is connected and you are unable to access devices or shared folders in your local area network (LAN), users can attempt to resolve this issue using the solutions below.
Solution 1: Disabling Kill Switch
When enabled, Kill Switch will automatically "kill" or block the device's Internet connection whenever VyprVPN is disconnected. Kill Switch will block all Internet and network communications aside from communications related to VyprVPN services.
Please note: Kill Switch is available on Windows, macOS, and Android.
To disable Kill Switch:
- Open the VyprVPN app
- Select Customize in the bottom left corner
- Select Kill Switch
- Toggle Enable Kill Switch to the off position
- Select Apply Changes
- Select the back arrow in the upper left-hand corner
Solution 2: Configure VyprVPN on your router
VyprVPN can be configured directly on many different types of routers. Setting up a VPN on your router will create a single VPN tunnel for your entire network.
In most cases, this will eliminate issues with respect to LAN access on the VPN. To find out more, please navigate to our router setup article below.

Solution 3: Disable NAT Firewall
NAT Firewall is an additional layer of security for your VyprVPN connection, designed to block unrequested inbound traffic when you're connected to VyprVPN.
NAT Firewall is more likely to cause issues with LAN connections if you have multiple LAN devices connected to VyprVPN. Although we don't recommend disabling NAT Firewall due to potential security risks, the steps below can be used to disable NAT Firewall on your account:
- Log into your account.
- Select the Manage Services tab on the left-hand side.
- Click the toggle switch under NAT Firewall to enable or disable NAT Firewall
Please note that we cannot guarantee the ability to access LAN services or devices. There can be many variables that may prevent access to devices or shared folders over your LAN.
If you continue to experience issues accessing devices or shared folders over your LAN, you will need to contact your network administrator for further assistance.
