Airports, restaurants, hotels, and many other public Wi-Fi locations will require users to navigate through a sign-in page as soon as you are connected to that location's Wi-Fi signal. This is frequently called a walled garden, or sometimes a splash page.
These "captive portal" systems work by routing all Web traffic to that page until the user clicks through. These connection events are device-specific, so this will need to be performed on each device you wish to gain internet access with.
Although these sign-in pages are different between networks, in most cases you can follow the steps below to complete the sign-in process:
- Connect to the public location's Wi-Fi.
- Launch your browser and attempt to navigate to any website, you will then be redirected to the sign-in page.
- Follow the sign-in process and acknowledge the TOS on the sign-in page (some locations may require that you register for an account with them before you are allowed internet access).
- Once you have completed the sign-in page, you should then be able to connect to VyprVPN.
(Note: Although you had to bypass the sign-in page without the use of VyprVPN, connecting to VyprVPN afterwards will still secure and encrypt your activity so that the network's administrator will be unable to snoop on your activity.
Since you're on an unfamiliar network, we highly recommend connecting to VyprVPN after completing the Wi-Fi network's sign-in process.)
