This error occurs when the application stalls during the "Tumbler checking" process during the installation.
The DNS tumbler is responsible for recovering from network errors that prevent users from reaching the necessary Golden Frog domains for the application installer.
In an attempt to resolve the issue, please install VyprVPN using the steps below:
- Download a copy of the latest VyprVPN version from here.
- Open the download folder that contains the VyprVPN installer file and drag/drop it to your Desktop. (Take note of the installer file name as it will be used in step 5.)
- Open the Command Prompt as Administrator.
- To do this in Windows Vista/7:
-Open the Start menu, go to All Programs, then open the Accessories folder.
-Right-click on "Command Prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator." If UAC is enabled, allow the process to complete by clicking "Yes." - To do this in Windows 8/8.1:
-On the Start screen, tap or click the Search magnifying glass icon.
-Search for "Command Prompt."
-Right-click on "Command Prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator." If UAC is enabled, allow the process to complete by clicking "Yes." - To do this in Windows 10 and 11:
-Right-click the Start menu and select "Search".
-Search for "Command Prompt."
-Right-click on "Command Prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator." If UAC is enabled, allow the process to complete by clicking "Yes."
- To do this in Windows Vista/7:
- When the Command Prompt is up, type in: cd c:\users\%USERNAME%\desktop
- Then, type in: start InstallerFileName /noTumble (Example: start VyprVPN-2.13.1.8166-installer /noTumble)
- The VyprVPN install process should now start with the installer pop-up.
- Proceed through the installation process normally.
If the installation continues to fail, it may be necessary to configure a manual connection on your Windows device.
Once you have configured and connected with the manual connection, please right-click the VyprVPN installer file and choose "Run as Administrator" to complete the installation.
