Error 806 occurs if the L2TP or IKEv2 connection between your computer and the VPN server has been started, but the VPN connection cannot be completed. Often the cause is that the connection is not getting past a firewall or security program.
Solutions:
- If using a manual L2TP connection, ensure that L2TP Pass-through is enabled in your router. If this is disabled, the connection cannot be validated as secure which will prevent connection to the server.
- Temporarily disable any running security software. If the connection succeeds without error afterward, you may re-enable the security software, making sure to utilize any whitelist function to allow VyprVPN to connect.
- Temporarily disable Windows Firewall. This can be done by typing Windows Defender Firewall into the search bar in Windows. Click on Windows Defender Firewall, and the option to turn it off is on the left side of the Windows Defender Firewall window. If this fixes the error, you will need to configure Windows Firewall so that it doesn't interfere with VyprVPN.
